What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? The SDGs are a vision of what the world should look like in the year 2030. They are a set of ambitious goals that the global community has agreed to achieving by 2030. SDGs seek to address a very broad range of issues to ensure that the world develops sustainably i.e. across economic, social and environmental dimensions. The world ‘sustainable’ is used to describe developments of the goals broader than economic growth alone. A sustainable development strategy takes into account progress on political, economic, social and environmental issues. If a country has disproportionally high economic growth, but very poor social and environmental outcomes then it is not yet developing sustainably. Countries that achieve good outcomes across all three domains (economic, social and environmental) are said to be developing sustainably
